复旦大学文学院中国语言与文化专业的介绍正文

中国语言与文化(EMA)

Why should you choose to study Chinese language and culture at Fudan University’s Department of Chinese Language and Literature?
◆ Whether you are studying Chinese because you are relocating to China or because you want to gain insight into Chinese civilization, history, industry, business or even pop culture, we have something that will interest you. Here the choice is yours. We offer both courses in modern and classical Chinese. Be you a beginner or someone with near native fluency, we have a class for you. For most candidates we suggest our two-year program in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature (DCLL).
◆Besides classroom teaching, here at DCLL our students have an opportunity for daily conversation with Chinese students in the department, home stays at Chinese professor’s homes, casual dinners with successful Chinese business men, factory visits and a chance to meet people of different backgrounds on our weekend outings to places of cultural and historical interest. Immersion studies in Fudan’s Department of Chinese Language and Literature is your number one choice.
◆ Having a basic foundation in Chinese culture and literature gives you the upper hand over the competition and provides you with access to more business opportunities. DCLL academic staff has earned national and international recognition for their research into Chinese culture and literature as well as the Chinese language. They will give you personal guidance in ancient and modern Chinese language and culture. The truth is, if you want to do business with your well-educated Chinese partners (often referred to as ru shang, Confucian tycoons) nowadays, you have to be at home in their culture and literature. Mutual trust starts with common interest and is strengthened with shared ideas.
◆ As of now, DCLL has established partnerships with more than 20 universities in Asia, America, and Europe, and has programs for student training and exchanges for faculty and student.
◆ Careers? There is great need for candidates fluent in both English and Chinese in Shanghai. After you graduate, there will be opportunities in business, trade, journalism, education, law, translation/interpreting, government, tourism, and IT. Having an EMA degree and international experience can facilitate entering into some of these professions. Many investors and multi-national companies have established their China and Asia headquarters in Shanghai. In recent years students from the United States, Britain, Germany, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and others have made their way to Fudan University in ever increasing numbers to learn Chinese language and culture.
