微生物学和微生物工程系
微生物学专业是国内建立最早、课程设置最完整的专业之一。1981年经国务院批准,有权授予微生物学和病毒学硕士学位,病毒学专业同时拥有博士学位授予权。1997年,病毒学博士点被拓宽为微生物学博士点。本系开设的主要课程有《微生物学》、《免疫学》、《病毒学》、《现代微生物学专题》等。
主要研究方向包括:微生物生理、代谢和遗传学,微生物进化、分类和生态学,感染与免疫。研究课题包括微生物基因组学和生物信息学、微生物中心代谢微调的机理、通过合成生物学技术构建生产新型抗生素的微生物、环境元基因组学及应用、增强乙肝疫苗免疫作用的途径、用于蛋白表达和基因转移的新型病毒载体等。
Department of Microbiology and Microbial Engineering
The Department of Microbiology and Microbial Engineering was established in 1986, the same year when School of Life Sciences was founded, by incorporating the Microbiology and Virology Majors of the former Biology Department. Professor Guoping Zhao, a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is currently the Chairman of the Department. Professor Jiang Zhong is the Executive Chair of the Department. There are 4 full professors and 3 associate professors in this department.
Microbiology is one of the most comprehensive and earliest programs established in China. Starting in 1981, the department offers Masters Degrees in Microbiology and Virology, and Ph.D. Degree in Microbiology. The major courses offered by the Department include Microbiology, Immunology, Virology and Special Topics on Modern Microbiology. The research areas include (1) Microbial Physiology, Metabolism and Genetics, (2) Microbial Evolution, Taxonomy and Ecology, and (3) Infection and Immunity. The specific research topics include microbial genomics and bioinformatics, the mechanism of microbial metabolism, microbial genetic engineering for the production of the antibiotics using synthetic biology, metagenomics and applications, improving the efficacy of the vaccine against hepatitis B viruses, developing novel virus vectors for protein expression and gene transfer.
