  1983年、1986年、1990年在清华大学电机系获工学学士、硕士、博士学位;1990年5月至1992年4月在中国科学院物理研究所作博士后,1992年5月至今在清华大学电机系任教,2000年晋升教授。1994年至1997年在德国斯图加特大学、达姆斯达特大学、杜塞尔多夫大学作访问学者。目前的主要研究方向为气体放电等离子体、介质阻挡放电、气体放电相似性、脉冲功率技术、X箍缩、Z箍缩。主持国家自然科学基金项目6项(其中重点项目1项),国家重大科技专项子课题3项,863项目1项,国际原子能机构(IAEA)项目1项。担任中国脉冲技术及应用学会理事、中国电机工程学会高电压新技术专委会委员、欧亚脉冲功率会议国际组织委员会委员、“高电压与电磁兼容北京市重点实验室”学术委员会委员,“特种电气技术教育部重点实验室”学术委员会委员,中国工程物理研究院“脉冲功率科学与技术重点实验室”学术委员会委员。《高电压技术》期刊编委会委员。《中国电气工程大典》第1卷第7篇“脉冲功率技术基础”主编。发表论文200余篇,其中SCI收录80多篇。2011年和2012年两次获得教育部自然科学二等奖(第2完成人和第1完成人)。所指导的博士生学位论文两人获评“全国百篇优秀博士论文”(2006年和2012年,5人获评“清华大学优秀博士论文”。
